Introducing:
The
Kleinood
Tamboerskloof
Katharien Syrah Rosé
2023
After each harvest, our beloved Tamboerskloof Katharien Rosé is the first wine to leave the Kleinood winery. But, don’t be fooled: to make this rosey wine is a very involved process.
It takes years of precision viticulture, followed by an arduous hands-on harvest. In early March of this year, grapes were harvested in the cool mornings. Then followed months of careful coaxing in our winery. Once they arrive indoors, the grapes are crushed slightly, and then pressed. The juice settles overnight, and is then racked. Two yeast strains are used to add complexity and depth. 15% of the wine is fermented in older 500litre barrels, and the rest in stainless steel tanks. The wine is kept on the lees for five months, after fermentation, prior to bottling on 9 July 2023.
The result is a dry 100% Syrah Rosé with a delicate pale-salmon colour. Medium-bodied, with perfumed aromas of violet and ripe summer fruit, finishing with flavours of berries and spices.
Just as summer is announcing itself in the Boland, we’re thrilled to share this new vintage!
