Kleinood Farm turns 25
In the year 2000 the small farm, that was to become Kleinood, was very different from what it is now.
But it stole our hearts and we decided to give it our best…
Now, 25 years later, we are taking time to look back.
The dream, the derelict fruit farm, the spectacular terroir.
The hard work. The lessons learned. The lean years and the mean years.
Rewarding vintages. Each telling a different story…
A New Vintage
If there’s been one constant it’s our flagship, the Kleinood Tamboerskloof Syrah.
Now, as winter announces itself in the Boland, we are proud to introduce the 2020 vintage.

From The Winemaker’s Diary :
The grapes were picked by hand from mid February to mid March of 2020 into lug boxes weighing roughly 17kg each. When they arrived at the winery, the grapes were sorted by hand three times, before proceeding to stainless steel tanks and transported, without pumping and using only gravity, into fermentation vessels for 11 to 16 days at 24-26.5 ̊C.The wine then spent 18 months in 300 and 500 litre French oak barrels, 15% first fill and the remainder in older barrels, before bottling on 21 February 2020.
Tasting Notes:
The nose, starting with violets, evolves into blackberry and bramble.
The palate is vibrant with a touch of complex spices, like freshly crushed black pepper and liquorice.
Cellaring Potential:
15 years
Winemaking is alchemy.
It is wind, rain, sun, and soil
mysteriously absorbed by the vine
to produce juice filled berries
that we, through the fine balance
between magic and science,
gently coax,
to become a thing of beauty
in every sense of the word.

Then&Now
Vertical Tasting
Two bottles of wine, similar looking. Made from the same vines, in the same winery, in the same way. And now in one box. It would be easy to make the mistake of thinking they’re going to drink the same…
But, enjoyed alongside each other, you’ll note some subtle yet sure differences.
Working with what mother nature decides and provides, means that each vintage tells a different story, with elegance and sophistication as the golden thread.
Take this special opportunity to compare dynamic vintages, and experience how well a bottle of the Kleinood Tamboerskloof Syrah ages.
Vintages included:
Kleinood Tamboerskloof Syrah 2016 – from our vinoteque.
Kleinood Tamboerskloof Syrah 2020 – a new release.
Enjoy the trip down memory lane!
With love,
from Kleinood Farm
