Tamboerskloof Katharien Rosé
“Congratulations on your success in the Harpers Wine & Spirit Design Awards 2013.
I’m delighted to confirm you’ve achieved a SILVER medal for the best-designed rose! There were only 2 medals awarded in total for this category so to win one genuinely is a fantastic achievement and given that the other was a bronze, this puts you as the overall best performer in the rose category.”
Although Tamboerskloof Katharien Rosé bears a slight distinction from Tamboerskloof Syrah and the Tamboerskloof Viognier created by the neck tag and the fact that the vintage appears on the back label. Katharien, appears on the front label instead of the vintage. The image of a little girl playing the clarinet is that of a sculpture her maternal grandmother made of her when she was a little girl. The sculpture is cast in bronze and wears a linen dress.
Tamboerskloof John Spicer Syrah
Harpers Global Wine Packaging Design Awards: Awarded Gold Medal & Supreme Champion Award Winner
Tamboerskloof John Spicer Syrah, being the Flagship wine from Kleinood bears the same label, hand torn and pasted, printed on handmade, recycled paper. However, for the sake of distinction, we have chosen black for the colour of the labels. The bottle is then wrapped in the artwork.

For Myerson (one of the judges) the golds stood out and, he believed, will speak to consumers and say “there is an idea, there was something great and there was something to latch onto”
DM: It comes down to personal taste and what you can connect with and for me this is absolutely wonderful. It is something that I connect with. I like the wit, I like the promotability, I like that it is a gift. I absolutely love that. To me, it is says everything about the anti-brand. We are so excited about branding and all the elements that make up the brand and go along with it. But this does something different.
You grab it and want to undress the bottle and see what is inside. There is some real subtlety that goes along with that – I love it. It is unique and nothing like I have seen before.
TF: This just has the wow factor for me. It works on so many levels. It has the mystery, the quirkiness, it is lovely to touch and you want to open it. It is perfect. I want to stock it. I have not seen anything like it before. It is so simple. Most brilliant ideas are often simple and this is brilliant.
TC: It is the one that to me is most unique.
