Description

(die pierewaaiers) = (the dandies)

A collection of rare Tamboerskloof wines
inspired by the exceptional grapes that cross our path.

“The charm of these wines lies in the quality of the grapes,
the care of the hands that create them,
and the soul of the places that they come from.”

Each wine comes in a recycled paper bag,
tied at the top with a thinly cut tyre tube.

Kleinood Tamboerskloof Whole-Bunch Syrah (overgesetsynde) 2023

(overgesetsynde) = expressing something in a new or different way

During the harvest of 2023, the quality of our Syrah bunches inspired an experiment.

Using the same grapes, from the same vineyards on Kleinood Farm, our winemaker kept a few of the best bunches aside, to make a barrel of Whole-Bunch Syrah.

Bottled here, is the result of that experiment.

A complex garnet hue in the glass, with a layered and expressive nose offering fruity top notes, intertwined with floral and herbal nuances, and a lingering of spice.

The palate opens with a dry and structured entry, where grippy tannins give way to a velvety mouth-feel.

Flavours of ripe black cherry and sweet tobacco unfold gracefully, leading to a lingering and sophisticated finish.

The wines is fermented cool at 25C with manual punchdowns taking place three times daily, and only twice daily after two thirds of fermentation. Fermentation was complete after 13 days. Malolactic fermentation occurred in stainless steel too.
