Made in the Kleinood Winery.
These are small batch wines that are not easily available,
and not necessarily made every year.
Nattily dressed, (the dandies) are sealed with wax,
carefully wrapped in a recycled paper bag,
and tied at the top with a thinly cut repurposed tyre tube.

Kleinood Tamboerskloof Mourvédre

From the small patch of fickle Mourvèdre grapes grown on Kleinood Farm, the Tamboerskloof Syrah takes its share. With this vintage, what remained was too good to waste, and we created this wine.
Only 3 barrels produced.
The medium-light colour and the attractive strawberry and spice on the nose suggest a light bodied, even frivolous, wine. However, the leather, tobacco box and mocha notes allude to something more.
With the fresh entry showing sour cherry and strawberry, the wine moves to good weight on the mid-pallet and texture all-round with hints of oak, vanilla and spice.
The finish lingers on with chocolate and cherry, yet stays focussed due to a good acidity level.
An exceptional combination of weight and texture with a youthful freshness.

Kleinood Tamboerskloof Chenin Blanc

We’ve been admiring our neighbour’s Chenin vines for years.
They finally got the hint, and offered us some grapes…
Wine of Origin: Stellenbosch
(Grown 2km from Kleinood Farm)
This pale straw-coloured wine has a lively nose, starting with wild flower and white pear.
A lemon and lime freshness support the fuller notes of pineapple and passion fruit, elegantly finishing off with a perfumed chamomile note.
The entry is fresh with a racy acidity that follows through to complex passion fruit flavours.
With very good length and good textured weight on the mid-palate, the wine finishes with tangerine notes.

Kleinood Tamboerskloof Grenache Blanc

“We stumbled upon a special block of Grenache Blanc in the Piekenierskloof,
and couldn’t resist bringing home grapes to make this wine.”
This deep straw-coloured wine has a vibrant nose, starting with Persian lime, lemon zest and goose berries. The elegance of honey suckle adds a sweet perfumed finish.
The entry is sweet with mild acidity, that follows through to orange zest flavours.
With medium length and good textured weight on the mid-palate, the wine finishes with fresh toast and marmalade.
